What the fee covers

Search across Japanese auction and exporter stock to your spec, with candidate cars and translated auction sheets
Verification of each candidate by chassis number against its auction history before any bid
A landed-cost estimate for each candidate on Irish plates, with the VRT band and the CO2, NOx and origin evidence position
Bidding or negotiation on your instruction, up to your maximum
Statement on Origin from the exporter for the 0% duty rate on Japanese-built cars
Shipping booking, marine insurance arrangement and tracking to the Irish port
Customs broker engaged as your direct representative; the declaration lodged
CO2 and NOx disclosure requests where the Japanese paperwork does not carry the figures
NCTS appointment booked inside the 7-day window and registration inside 30 days, with the documents prepared

What you pay others

The car, the Japan-side fees and the sea freight: paid by you to the exporter
Customs duty, import VAT, VRT and the NOx levy: paid by you to Revenue
Irish-side third-party charges (port handling, the customs broker, translation, disclosure, NCTS fee, plates, transport), itemised in every estimate and paid to the providers
Insurance, motor tax and the NCT

When the fee is paid

Nothing until you sign a mandate. Nothing kept if we find you nothing.

1The fee is invoiced when you sign the sourcing mandate. Searching, verification and estimates happen before you commit to any car.
2If we have not found you a car you want to buy within three months, the fee is refunded less €150 for the work done.
3Once a car is bought at auction or from an exporter on your instruction, the fee is earned in full. An auction bid is irrevocable, so the mandate confirms your instruction before we bid.
4If a car turns out on arrival to differ materially from the verified auction sheet and inspection, we pursue the exporter with you at no extra fee.

These terms are modelled on established flat-fee import agents and are a draft until a solicitor has reviewed them against the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and distance-selling rules. The signed mandate will be the binding version.
